Jackie Jackson (born Sigmund Esco Jackson on May 4, 1951 in Gary, Indiana) is an African-American singer and musician, formerly member of The Jackson 5, and is the oldest son in the Jackson family that includes American pop stars Michael Jackson and Janet Jackson. Jackson left a promising career in baseball to pursue his passion for music with his brothers.
In 1973 Jackie followed his brothers and made a solo record. The album titled "Jackie Jackson" did not succeed like those of Michael or Jermaine. It was not even charted. In following years he continued to work with his brothers in what became The Jacksons. He was a brother who never left the family band from Jackson 5 early days right through to "2300 Jackson Street" in 1989. Also in 1989 Jackie released his second solo effort called "Be the One". This album still performed poorly in comparison to his brothers but substantially better than his previous album. It reached number 84 on the R&B Billboard Charts. Two singles were released from the album: "Stay" reached number 39 on the charts and "Cruzin" went to number 58.
Jackie allegedly had a romantic relationship with choreographer and singer Paula Abdul while he was married to Enid Jackson (they divorced in 1987, and she died in 1997), which turned out to be untrue. He has two children, a daughter, Brandi and a son, Sigmund Esco "Siggy," Jr. Siggy is a rapper who goes by the name DealZ.
Jackie has been seen widely in public with brother Michael at his 2005 child molestation trial.
